Frost Fair Northampton 28th Nov

I hired a stool at the northampton art fair today, showing some of my work for sale; the freezing cold did nothing to dampen spirit after the sale of one of my pieces. Thanks go to my dad who helped me throughout the day. Here are some images of the day:

New Project: Boundaries

I'm beginning this project concerned with the boundaries separating our natural state and the media based influences that have modeled us as people.  As another reference to the theme I intend to explore visually, the barriers between painting, drawing, and video.

Below are a series of portraits, using projection of media images iconic in my youth as a skin; referencing the link between the person I am and the sentiment I hold for these relics.

New Brief: COLOURIFIC

last week i was given the brief for my new project titled 'Colourific', I have spent the last week finishing of my last project (I will post this work soon) and now have finally began collecting my thoughts to tackle this breif.

The work from my last project was concerned with recording the event and the experience, much like the work of the fluxus group and Dada, i developed this into an interest with interaction and used the body as a drawing and recording device, inspred by Rebecca Horn, Yevs Klien, and Matthew Barney

In this project I want to look at translation and in turn the ability to translate the experience and the event to and from colour. With this in mind the first image that came to my head was how visualisers are used in media players to create abstract patterns, directly fed from the music.

Here are some videos of performances known as LIGHTSHOWS where LED lights are used in dark spaces in conjuction with music, it is this relationship and how the performer reacts to the music which creates these powerful trance like images, taking the viewer on an intimate journey out of the space they are in and using light & colour as a carrier into the song itself

Here you can see the viewer and the intimacy between the performer and the viewer in terms of personal space . . .
